Briana Nicole Vega, Miami, FL, Feb. 4, 2002 - Feb. 24, 2014. 12 years old leaves behind a loving mother Joyce, father Humberto, and brother Javier. She also leaves behind great friendships at her Westminster Christian School that she loved and cherished. She also leaves her great team of Doctors, nurses and staff at Miami Childrens Hospital which gave us an extra 2 years and 2 days since diagnosed with Leukemia. In her short time with us, Briana has managed to do, inspire, move and teach things to the masses. Briana put up a great fight against cancer not once but twice until her body couldn't take anymore. She inspired thousands to come out and become bone marrow donors to help not just herself but others battling Leukemia. She taught us all how to live, laugh, enjoy, love and have a passion for life itself. Throughout her journey, Briana has been very active in making people more aware of pediatric cancer and raising funds for Miami Childrens Hospital Foundation where she is a junior ambassador for the hospital. She was the guest speaker at the 2012 Miami Childrens Hospital Diamond Ball which is the largest yearly charity gala to raise funds. That night raised millions as she gave a very moving and inspiring speech to a crowd of over 700 attendees. She has been a part of the Bald Brave and Beautiful campaign of the hospital and even sang alongside Gloria Gaynor in a video to promote awareness in pediatric cancer. She has been on numerous TV interviews including CBS Channel 4, NBC Channel 6, WSVN Channel 7, CNN en Espanol, Telemundo, Univision, AmericaTeve, Radio and in newspapers. She even got to walk the run way in a fashion show from famous Miami designer Rene Ruiz. Rene Ruiz met Briana at the Diamond Ball and decided to make a dress for her and put her in one of his fashion shows. Briana is also recipient of the 2012 "Champion of the Human Spirit Award" from the Cancer Support Community Greater Miami division. She is the first child to receive this award from this organization that provides free cancer support for families and patients.
