MILLER Eleanor S. of Miami, Florida passed away in the early morning on Friday, December 1, 2017, at the age of 96. She died peacefully in her sleep, at home, surrounded by loved ones. Eleanor was born on March 30, 1921 in Baltimore, MD, the oldest daughter of Sarah and Israel Shapoff. Eleanor's beloved sister, Beatrice, predeceased Eleanor in 2007. Eleanor married Robert Miller on July 2, 1939. They shared 78 full years of love and adventure together. Over the amazing span of her life, Eleanor was many things to people. She was a student of life who never stopped learning, exploring and encouraging others to become their best. She was elegant compassionate, kind and generous with her time and treasures. In the early 1960's she taught English at Miami High School. Through teaching, she discovered her ability to impact others. Ellie, as she was known to friends and family, was wry and vivacious. It seemed that every seven years she would feel an urge to redefine herself and grow in new ways. Throughout her lifetime, she became a licensed Real Estate Professional, grew orchids, thrived and enjoyed the music in Aspen, traveled extensively and created a loving, extended family. She was one of the first volunteers of Hospice (Vitas). She loved and cherished poetry and literature and was very eloquent and creative in her endeavors. She painted, studied holy text, and was extremely inspired. She was intellectual, compassionate, and had a far reaching memory. She was extremely personable and connected instantly with people. People were drawn to her and influenced by her uncommon blend of intelligence, sweetness, and common sense. She knew when something would touch someone and had an intuition for authenticity. Eleanor was an enthusiastic member of South Florida Havurah. Her friendships and relationships, both enduring and emergent, meant more to her than anything else. Eleanor is survived by her husband of 78 years, Robert Miller, by her son, Dan Miller and daughter, Carmi Saunsaucie (Hazel), by her grandsons Jeff Roth and Jasen Miller and granddaughter, Naomi Boyer, by her great grandchildren, Sarah and Joeli Roth and Morgan and Taryn Boyer. She was predeceased by her granddaughter Tammy Roth. Eleanor will be laid to rest at Mount Nebo Kendall Memorial Gardens. Donations may be made to Vitas Hospice or the .
