Helen Jean Thompson, Age 94, of Pembroke Pines, Florida, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 28, 2018. Jean was born and raised in Westerville, Ohio. She graduated from Westerville High School in 1941 and from Ohio State University in 1947. Jean moved to Miami in 1949 and was first employed by Food Fair. In 1966 she was the first female to be elected President of the Board of Directors of the Food Fair Federal Credit Union and served on the Board for over 25 years. She later worked at the Miami Herald and retired from Knight Ridder corporate office in 1991. Jean's many interests included gardening, ballroom dancing, bowling and traveling the world with her many friends. She was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Miami Dolphins and Miami Heat. She will be missed and forever remain in our hearts. A funeral service will be held at Fred Hunter's Funeral Home - 6301 Taft Street, Hollywood, FL 33024, at 1:00 P.M. Monday, June 11, 2018. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jean's name may be made to Vitas Hospice Care.
