Hortensia Otilia, born 11 January 1935 in Holguin Cuba died peacefully surrounded by family 6 August 2018 in Miami. Beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished aunt, Hortensia is survived by Children Ana (Andrew), Miguel (Magda) and Javier (Barry); Grandchildren, Eric and Victoria; four generations of adoring cousins, nephews, nieces; as well as innumerable friends and colleagues. Viewing: Thursday, August 9th 5-11pm; Caballero-Rivero Woodlawn 8200 Bird Road Mass: Friday August 10th at 10am; St. Timothy Catholic Church 5400 SW 102 Ave Interment: Following mass; Woodlawn Park Cemetery 3260 SW 8th St With multiple degrees and many talents, the esteemed Math, Science & Computer Teacher (Richmond Heights and Ada Merritt) was immensely creative, endlessly resourceful, and amazingly strong. She will be remembered most for her generosity. Whenever a family arrived from Cuba, Hortensia actively assisted, translated, drove, collected, arranged, lobbied. She set a wonderful example that we strive to follow every day.
