GUINNESS, IBIS ALVAREZ It is with great sadness that the family of Ibis A. Guinness announces her passing after a brief illness, on Friday, June 1, 2018, at the age of 88 years. Ibis, widow of John B. Guinness, will be lovingly remembered by her sister Carmen and brother-in-law Dr. Luis Gonzalez, as well as her nieces and nephews Carmen Gonzalez, Ana Gonzalez, Luis Gonzalez (Sandra), Anna Figueroa, Beatriz Figueroa (Tomas Delgado), Carlos Figueroa, Patricia Figueroa and Cristina Figueroa and their children, Julio Mendez, Lucas Sanchez, Elissa Sanchez, Vicente Sanchez, Isabella Sanchez, Gabriel Brito, Daniela Brito, Catherine Monasterio (Gonzalez) and Christopher Gonzalez. Ibis was born in Taguasco, Sancti Spiritus in the Province of Las Villas, Cuba to Antonia Camacho and Evaristo Alvarez. She married her beloved husband John on June 14, 1953 in Havana, Cuba and together they moved to New York City, NY. Later, the couple moved to Miami where they lived out their happy life together. Ibis and John were founding members of St. Kieran's Catholic Church and served the parish community throughout their lives. Ibis was an active member of the community serving organizations such as the Pan American Round Table, Centro Asturiano de Miami, Antiguas Alumnas del Apostolado, Corpus Christi Catholic Church and Amor en Acci¢n. The viewing for Ibis will be held on Monday, June 4, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 pm, at Maspons Funeral Home, 3500 SW 8 St., Miami. The funeral mass will be held Tuesday, June 5th at 10:30am at St. Kieran's Catholic Church, 3605 S. Miami Avenue. Interment will follow in Graceland Memorial Cemetery North.
