Judy Amerkan Jones, 71, died Tuesday, January 2, 2018. Judy was a beloved daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. Originally from Miami, Florida, Judy most recently lived in Richmond, Virginia where she retired with her husband, Dennis Jones. Judy was previously a Registered Nurse and Director of the School of Nursing at Jackson Memorial Hospital for over 35 years. Judy was a woman of unconditional love, compassion, and generosity. She was a devoted and loyal friend, with an infectious laugh and delightfully snarky sense of humor. Judy is survived by her husband, Dennis, her daughter, Katie Gilden (Michael), and her three grandchildren, Samuel Gilden, Joseph Gilden, and Molly Gilden. Always a fiercely independent woman who valued education, opportunity, and choice, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Better Make Room (www.bettermakeroom.org), Planned Parenthood (www.plannedparenthood.org) or Time's Up (www.timesupnow.com).
