Lucila C. Ordonez, 95, passed away peacefully in Miami, Florida, on February 24, 2018. She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband, Antonio, and is survived by her 6 children, Tony, Alberto, Luis, Lucy Natale, Oscar and Edward, 20 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She and Antonio came to the United States from Cuba in 1962 seeking a better life for them and their children. Lucila grew up in Cuba in a loving family with her father, Juan Castellvi, mother, Lily Padro, and 14 brothers and sisters, all of whom eventually emigrated from Cuba to the United States and Puerto Rico. Lucila valued education. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart of Jesus school in Cuba, she obtained her Undergraduate Degree from Barry University, and her Master's Degree from Florida Atlantic University. She worked for the Chicago Board of Education and eventually became Coordinator of Bi-lingual Education for the Chicago Public Schools until her retirement. She loved reading, fashion, traveling, and above all, spending time with her family. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on May 12, 2018, at St. Raymond Catholic Church, 3475 S.W. 17th Street, Miami, Fla. 33145, with interment immediately following at Woodlawn Park North, 3260 S.W. 8th Street, in Miami, and a celebration at La Carreta restaurant, 3632 S.W. 8th Street, in Miami.
