FERNANS, LYNNE PUGH, 94, passed away peacefully on March 7th 2018. Born on April 20th, 1923 in Barry, Wales, she met her husband Tony (Cyril T. Fernans) during his service in the British Army, & married in Pontypridd, Wales on Feb. 14th 1942. They moved to Miami Beach in 1948, later residing in Miami Shores, where they enjoyed 55 yrs of marriage & raised their four children. Founding members of St. Rose of Lima, Lynne devoted herself to serving the church & community. Lynne was proud of her Welsh heritage, and like her mother Ceinwen, enjoyed reminding family of their relative, Tom Jones! An avid reader, Lynne enjoyed History, Art, Murder Mysteries & once met her favorite author P.D. James. Lynne loved classical music, needlepoint, playing bridge, & was always ready to travel when the opportunity arose.A humanitarian, Lynne gave to many charities including the Veterans, PBS, Wildlife & our Environment. At 47, Lynne enrolled at MDC & received her Bachelors degree from FIU. She spent 15 years at Southeast Bank as an Administrative Assistant & Regional Trainer. Lynne later worked in the Parish Office of St. Rose until retiring at 80, to spend more time with grandson Griffin playing games & sharing her love of movies. A member of various clubs including Miami Women's Club, Bridge Club & President of St Rose Mothers Club. An active member in the Catholic Church, Lynne served as an Eucharistic & Lay Minister. She is survived by her 4 children; David Fernans (Tricia), Jon Fernans (Ruth), Victoria Fernans- Moore (Gerald) & Hope Steutel (John), Grandchildren; Griffin Steutel and Stephanie Janca-Davis, Great Grandchild; Dalton Davis. A Mass will take place at 4 pm on Mon. March 12th at St Rose of Lima Church, followed by a Celebration of Lynne's Life at the Miami Shores Country Club 5:30 - 7:00 PM.
