Morton Irwin Singerman, 89, of Boca Raton, FL., succumbed to lung cancer at home surrounded by his family on April 14, 2018. Mort enjoyed more than 28 years of a joyous marriage and love affair with Deborah Brandt Singerman.

Mort was born at Israel Zion Hospital in Brooklyn, New York December 20, 1928, to the late Louis and Ida Singerman. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dr. Leonard Singerman, his loving late wife, Esther Singerman, son, Richard Singerman, and step-daughter Barbara Brandt Carroll.

Mort was a proud veteran. He enlisted in the U.S. Army at age 17, and was a Sergeant Technician 3rd Grade. He served in Japan. Mort raised his family in Lima, Ohio. In Lima, he was a prominent businessman and gave generously of his time and energy to a number of charitable and community service organizations. When he returned to Lima in November of 2017, he received a proclamation from the city that recognized and celebrated his community contributions, philanthropy, civic-mindedness and business acumen.

Mort's greatest joy in life was his family, and he and Debby magically combined their respective families. He celebrated every accomplishment of every one of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and overlooked every time any of them missed the mark in any respect. Cherished father of daughter Robin (Leonard) Delgado, son Paul (Marte) Singerman and daughter-in-law, Rachel Pollock (Roger), and stepchildren; Laura Patinkin Urken (Mark), Mark L. Patinkin (Shannon), Suzy Mayer (Dave) & Cindy Power (Coe), as well as 16 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. His grandchildren are Loren Lange, W Mae Singerman O'Donahue (Padraig), Monica Lange, Eliza Singerman, Rickie Singerman, Erica Miller (Derek), Brandt Jennings (Kelly), Brett Wayman, Render Allumaya (Fox) , Julie Power, Jeremy Power, Jordan Patinkin, Michael Patinkin, Gabrielle Urken, Grant Urken, Hannah Urken; and great grandchildren Joey Carpenter, Lauren Bailey Miller, Haviva Sadie O'Donoghue, Shira Roisin O'Donoghue and Brandt and Kori Jennings.

Mort Singerman was a good man and friend to many. He approached everything in life with integrity and compassion for others. He had a loving smile and a gentle manner. All who knew him were enriched by him.

The family offers special thanks to all who assisted Mort and all of us in this journey. The team from Trust Bridge in Boca Raton has been amazing. Each of them is an angel, and together they provided compassionate care and support. Thanks, too, to Althea Walker, and her amazing team of Jacqueline Glegg, Monica Morgan and Mello Virgo. They are angels as well. And finally, Dr. John Rubin's care and counsel for over a decade has been invaluable.

A memorial service will be service held at Broken Sound Country Club, 2401 Willow Springs Drive, Boca Raton, FL. 33496 on 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 22, 2018. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rabbi Gayle Pomerantz Forward Fund at Temple Beth Sholom, 4144 Chase Avenue, Miami Beach, FL. 33140 or Boca Friends for Cancer Research.
