Rosemary Hymes Obituary

Rosemary Joyce Hymes
February 27, 2021
Palm Beach Gardens, Florida - Rosemary Joyce Hymes died peacefully on February 27, 2021, at her home in Palm Beach Gardens. Her family was at her bedside throughout the month.
She was born in Miami on July 9th, 1941 to Mary Alice and Robert Beck, Sr. Rosemary attended Notre Dame Academy for Girls and graduated in 1959. During the summers she worked as a volunteer at Mercy Hospital in Coconut Grove. Her volunteer work led her to Spaulding University in Louisville, Kentucky, where she earned a B.S. degree in Nursing in 1964. She worked at Coral Gables Hospital and South Miami Hospital in the Outpatient Clinics.
Rosemary and Ray spent 22 years in Islamorada before moving to Palm Beach Gardens in 2014. She enjoyed boating, snorkeling, fishing and gardening. She delighted in watching her grandchildren grow up learning to enjoy the ocean waters around her home in Islamorada. While there she was a hospice volunteer for 19 years. She was a compassionate woman who enjoyed listening to the patients talk about their lives or just sitting next to them and holding their hands. While in Palm Beach Gardens she volunteered at a school for underprivileged children until her health forced her to stop, but she was thankful for the opportunity to help them in some small way.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Rayford, her children Mary Wilburn (Edward) of Palmetto Bay, Fl, John Joyce (Tara) of Redondo Beach, Ca, David Hymes (Yvonne) of Riverview, Fl, Michael Hymes (James) of Trussville, Al. She has 5 grand children, Daniel Hymes, Sean Wilburn, Kathryn Wilburn, Caroline Wilburn and John Henry Joyce. Also surviving her are brother John Beck (Dolores) and sister Mary Clare Holiday (John).
Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, a service for family members will be held on March 4th at St Louis Catholic Church in Pinecrest, Fl. A live feed of the service is available at: STLCATHOLIC.ORG/LIVE-FEED at 12:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to Trustbridge Hospice Foundation, www.trustbridgefoundation.org.
