KJOS, MARIANNE, 63, died Friday, Jan. 25, after a seven-year battle with ovarian cancer. At the time of her death she was advanced placement coordinator at Coral Reef High School, rated 23rd in the nation by Newsweek magazine. Before her three years at Coral Reef, she worked for five years for the School District in downtown Miami. Her title was educational specialist, and she also edited proposals and other items for the school board. In her 39 years with Miami-Dade County schools, she also taught English at Miami High School, Central High School, Killian High School and Sunset High School. She was a valued employee of the College Board, and was a national consultant, both teaching workshops and supervising workshop instructors. She taught workshops in Mumbai, India; Saipan; Hawaii; and San Salvador, El Salvador as well as throughout Florida and the South. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Les Kjos of Miami, and her daughter Jennifer Kjos of Brooklyn, NY, her sister Susan Jeffries, and her brothers Joseph Romansky and Michael J. Romansky. A gathering will be held at the funeral home on Thursday Jan. 31 from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 6:00 PM.
