BLOOM M.D., EUGENE C. 6/3/1933-9/21/2018 -Savannah, Georgia, and Miami, Florida Eugene C. Bloom "Bucky:, M.D., born June 3, 1933, in Tupelo, Mississippi to Robert and Anna Bloom died on September 21, 2018, in Savannah, Georgia. He felt that the gift of life was like a glass half-filled and he spent his life filling the glass. A scholar, leader, and humanitarian, he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Scholastic Medical Honor Society and the Iron Arrow Leadership Society at the University of Miami. Dr. Bloom was also a Distinguished Alumnae of the University of Miami- Miller School of Medicine. He served as a captain in the United States Army and the National Guard. He was married for 61 glorious years to the love of his life- Joan Margoles Bloom, who had just recently passed away on July 5, 2018. Together they traveled the world with their best friends (Jane Margoles Zwig and Ed Zwig - both of blessed memory) and made the most of their time and memories with family and friends in Savannah (Georgia), Boca Raton (Florida), and Miami (Florida). He is survived by three daughters: Margie (Ira) Albert, Stacey (Barry) Schlafstein, and Robin (David) Wolf plus seven grandchildren - Jennifer and Alex Albert - Ashley, Sara, and Jessica Schlafstein - and Megan and Matthew Wolf. He is also survived by his nieces and nephew - Marcy (Jim) Solmson, Carol (Mikael) Andersson, and Andy (John Stanton) Zwig. His trusted Shih Tzu dog - Tommy - filled his heart as well. The Bloom Family greatly thanks Mary Hicks for her support through the last few years and especially the last few months to both Dr. Bloom and Joan Bloom. The funeral service will be at 11 o'clock Wednesday, September 26, 2018, at Lakeside Memorial Park - 10301 N.W. 25th Street, Miami, Florida 33172 with abbi Robert W. Haas officiating.
