I would really value an opportunity to contact Vivian, Ms L. A. Anderson, at her convenience. I am a college friend of Lee's and lost touch with him many years ago.

I was so saddened to hear the news of Lee's untimely and unexpected passing, but so grateful my mother and I had the chance to visit with him and Vivian (and their dog and cats) earlier this year at their lovely home on the grounds of the enchanting Montgomery Botanical Center. I hadn't seen Lee for many years, so it was great catching up with him and seeing him so happy in his environs.

So sorry to hear about Lee's death--a life cut too short.
I remember him in high school as a quiet, alert presenceintelligent, kind, calm, and slyly humorous. My heart goes out to his family, friends, and his colleagues at the Botanical Garden.

My Captain Lee made Camp Grace Bentley magical. Half of a Century ago, many class of 65 seniors spent a summer having creative fun and helping handicapped children be normal. Our sweet innocent romance made the experience even better
Captain Lee was loved by so many friends and family. I have the Journal and Courier article Lee sent about WL honors 1964 state champions with rings on my desk with his hen scratching print note. I was ready to write him back but I didn't do it soon enough. He said it was a totally fabulous event more, later, love , Capt Lee
He was a friend for life
My heart goes out to Vivian. Hugs to all who love him.
May he Rest In Peace

I remember Lee as a friend, classmate, teammate and co-worker (at Camp Grace Bentley). He always had a way about himself, just a pleasant and positive person. May God bless his family and loved ones at this time and always. You'll be missed, Lee.

This has brought such sadness to many. Having been a classmate of Lee's since at least 3rd Grade and a neighbor for many years, I have fond memories that could go on forever. My thoughts are with Viv and other friends at this tragic time.

I'll always remember Lee for his sly wit and Mona Lisa smile. It was a pleasure knowing him. He will be missed.

I was a classmate of Lee in West Lafayette Indiana, starting in elementary school and continuing through our high school graduation in 1965.
Lee was a member of the state championship cross country team in 1964. Besides being a star athlete, Lee was a nice and fun guy. He was a favorite of mine and many other classmates.
I have gathered here what some of those classmates have told me about Lee, after they learned of his tragic passing. There has been much sadness among his long-time friends from West Lafayette Indiana.

Classmates say about Lee:
Lee, Mark [Gibbens] & I go back to nursery school together and grew up as neighbors. We were lucky enough to have all gotten together just last month [April 2018 in West Lafayette]. Lee & I spoke just a couple of weeks ago. His sudden loss is a huge shock. Lee will be missed greatly!

I am devastated. I am so shocked
------------------------------------------
This is indeed very sad.
---------------------------------------
So sad to learn of Lee's untimely death. A very nice person.
-------------------------------------------
This is really shocking! Lee and I just spoke by phone about the class of 1965 gift [for the new James Guy Wing to be added to the high school in West Lafayette].
---------------------------------------
This is so sad
-----------------------------------------
How awful to hear this news about Lee. He was one of my cross-country heroes. He was also just such a great guy. Fortunately we have memories. He will live on.
--------------------------------------
That is so sad, and a reminder of the fragility of life. Carpe diem.
--------------------------
How sad. I always liked Lee.
------------------------------------------------------------
I always liked Lee who was in my class and now I feel really badly because I didn't realize that he lived in Coral Gables where I go every month.
------------------------------------------------------
I had no idea he was living right around the corner from me in Miami or that he was running a botanical garden (which I love).
--------------------------
How very temporary our later years are.
------------------------------------
So terrible.
-----------------------------------------------------
So sorry to learn of Lee's passing. He was the most exciting track runner I ever saw in High School
--------------------
Sad news about Lee Anderson
--------------------------------------------------
Lee really came across as one of our class's luminaries - ambitious, high achieving, never controversial or alienating. He was one of the "good guys." I am sorry to learn of his passing but glad to know that the team members were able to get together one last time [April 2018].
-----------------------------------------------
One of Lee's elementary school teachers writes:
Thanks for sending me the very sad news. Tragic!
I did speak with Lee, very briefly, at the 50th reunion dinner. I remember him as being a quiet, bright, pleasant, handsome and well-liked young boy. So sad to think that he is gone.

One of Lee's high school teachers writes:
Thank you for letting me know. What a shock for his family. Let me know if there is some memorial. I remember Lee well.
