Efren Valdez Anguiano passed away suddenly March 18, 2013, in Seattle, Wash.
Efren was born June 18, 1951, in Leon, Gto., Mexico, to Jose S. Valdez and Maria Natividad Anguiano. The family moved to Klamath Falls in 1956. Efren attended Klamath Falls public schools and graduated from Klamath Union High School. He attended Southern Oregon University and transferred to the University of Oregon, graduating with a degree in surveying and later received a degree in engineering.
Efren worked for Oregon Department of Transportation and on federal highway projects in Oregon and Washington. He retired due to a medical disability.
Preceding him in death was his father Jose S. Valdez, who passed away April 9, 2002, and nephew Christopher Montgomery on Sept. 4, 1998.
Survivors include sons Kenneth and wife Page of Seattle and granddaughters Jessica and Nicole; Charles and wife Heather of Medford and granddaughter Alyssa and grandson Brayden; and daughter Heather of Portland and grandson Cole. Other family members include mother Maria N. Valdez; brothers Gelacio of Medford and Phillip of Klamath Falls; sisters Phyllis of Michigan, Maria and LuzMaria of Klamath Falls, Eva of Nebraska and Esther of Washington; and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and other relatives.
Special thanks of appreciation to Bill and Marilyn McLean of Portland for their support and closeness to Efren.
A funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. April 12, preceded by recitation of the holy rosary at 10:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
