Karen Cowley "Jean" Richardson

1939 - 2024

Jean Richardson, 85, of Klamath Falls, passed away at home February 8, 2024, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Born May 21, 1939, Karen Jean was the sixth of ten children of Milo and Dorothy (Illig) Cowley. She attended Hornby School Grades 1-8 near Erie, Pennsylvania and graduated from Enterprise High School in Redding, California, Class of 1954. One of her fondest childhood memories was the road trip with her parents, Grandpa Cowley, and all the children when the family moved from Pennsylvania to California.

Jean met Leon Richardson while working at Woolworths. They married August 8, 1966, in Las Vegas. After many years with the Woolworths Company in California, Jean and Leon ran a store in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and then their own store in Kirkland, Washington. They retired to Klamath Falls to care for Leon's aunt and later his aging mother.

Those who know Jean remember her for her sweet nature and kindness. She enjoyed her work at Hallmark Cards. Jean loved her family. Her hobby was researching their family tree. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Marilyn and her brothers Billy, Chuck, and Bob. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Leon; her sister Donna and her brothers Donald, Joseph, Irvin, and Thomas. Services will be held Tuesday, February 20, at 1 p.m. at O'hair-Wards Funeral Chapel, 515 Pine St, Klamath Falls, Oregon.
