Alford "Al" Henry Taylor Jr., 74, of Chiloquin, Ore., formerly of Battle Ground, Wash., passed away on July 30, 2018, with family by his side.
He was born on Nov. 29, 1943, in Medford, Ore.
Al had a passion for trains and spent his career as a railroad engineer for SP&S, Burlington Northern and Amtrak. He received the recognition of Engineer of the Year while with Amtrak in 1993 and was credited with saving lives when he slowed and stopped the train early in an effort to avoid colliding with a derailed freight train.
