Our loving mother, Virginia R. McGaughey, 85, left us Aug. 16, 2014, in Portland, Ore. A celebration of her life will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, in Klamath Tribute Center on South Sixth Street in Klamath Falls, Ore. A reception will follow with entombment at Eternal Hills Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations to Klamath Animal Shelter or Klamath Basin Senior Citizens Center would be welcomed. Virginia was born Virginia Ruth Albers April 16, 1929, in Albany, Ore., to Ronald and Anna Irene Albers. Her family moved to Klamath Falls in 1942, where she graduated from Klamath Union High School in 1947. She married Earl E. McGaughey Nov. 28, 1948. They were happily married for 50 years before his death in 1998. Virginia was an active community member. She was president and treasurer of South Suburban Little League, Klamath County School District board member, YMCA board member, vice president of Modoc Council of the Girl Scouts, 1953 president of J. Cettes, board member of the American Red Cross and the senior citizens center. She also was a member of the PTA, hospital guild, Beta Sigma Phi, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Sub Vets Auxiliary, and Highlands Architectural and Finance Committees. She enjoyed her family, dancing, camping, and playing pinochle and other games with her friends. She is survived by her three children, Robbi Gerding, Vicki Cullen and Rick McGaughey; their spouses, Ken Gerding, Tim Cullen and Vicky McGaughey; grandchildren, Tyler Gerding, Sean Cullen, Matthew Cullen, Jennifer Cullen, Madison McGaughey, Morgan McGaughey, Makenzi McGaughey, Adam McGaughey, Sara Jones, Ian Jones; and great-grandson, Cameron Drillling. Also special friend, Keith Clark. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, her parents and her brother and sister. Eternal Hills Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
