Ervin "Junior" Edge, 87, passed away Feb. 28, 2013, after an illness.
Junior was born in Blunt, S.D., on May 25, 1925, to Ervin and Neva Edge.
The family moved to Klamath Falls in 1937. In June 1946, he married (Florence) Jean Sharp. They raised their four children in Klamath Falls.
Junior worked in the timber industry for most of his adult life and retired in the late 1970s from Jeld-Wen.
In his younger years, he loved participating in stock car racing all over the West Coast and then repairing those vehicles to race again. Later, he enjoyed watching NASCAR. His favorite drivers were the Earnhardts, Dale and Dale Jr. He also collected John Deere and old-time car memorabilia and worked on puzzles. Western movies and music always entertained him.
Junior enjoyed camping and fishing. His favorite camping spot was Gerber Reservoir. He was an avid fan of his children's and grandchildren's sporting events; refs and umps in the Klamath Basin will recall his loud and sometime uncomplimentary comments. Holidays and barbecues with his family were his favorite way to spend time. When guests were leaving after a visit, he always sent them off with a "Ya all come back soon."
Junior will be missed by his loving wife Jean; his children Margaret and Tom Rogers, Larry and Cheryl Edge, Rick and Marla Edge and Sherry Hargraves; seven grandchildren Greg, Mark, Kevin and Whitney Edge, Ron and Tom Rogers and Sarah Williams and their families; 14 great-grandchildren with one expected soon; as well as his sister Elaine and numerous and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by an infant sister Donna and sister Ruby French.
Junior had polio in his childhood and suffered from the aftereffects all his life.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to March for Babies, March of Dimes Emerald Chapter, 115 W. 8th Ave., Suite 360, Eugene, OR 97401. Online donations can be made at
