WESTMINSTER - Dan D. Boone passed from this earth to his heavenly home at 8:55 am on Friday, July 5, 2013, surrounded by his loving family at home, just a short distance from where he was born on December 16, 1920.
He is survived by wife of 61 years Alice Joyce Boone of Anna; children, son, Gary Boone and wife Darla of Blue Ridge; daughters, Leah Baugh of Anna, Gay Lynn Baldwin and husband William of Weatherford; grandchildren: Becki Gourley and husband Chris of Burleson, Teri Davis and husband Bryan of Burleson, Angi Durham and husband Noel of Burleson, Bret Baugh of McKinney, Samantha Elder of Weatherford, Rachael Yeager and husband Dustin of Bailey and Clayton Oliver Boone of Blue Ridge; step-grandchildren, Erika Martinez of Cleburne, DeAndra Baldwin of Blum, and Will Baldwin of Blum; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Corey, Cason, and Calli Gourley of Burleson, Lleyton Dickey and Kendal Davis of Burleson and Kamey Yeager of Bailey; sister, Rhoda Smith of Denison; nephews, Billy Smith and wife Beverly of Michigan, and Danny Smith and wife Theresa also of Michigan; niece, Rebecca Jones and husband David of Denison and a number of other close cousins.
He is preceded in death by father, Oliver Boone; mother, Rebecca Boone; and several close uncles, aunts and cousins.
He trusted Jesus as his Savior at the age of 12 and became a member of Westminster Baptist Church and was ordained as a Deacon at Crescent Park Baptist Church, Odessa, Texas in 1957 where he taught Bible Class at First Baptist Church, Crowley after having transferred to Ft. Worth as District Sales Manager with Merchant Fast Motor Line. He was a 50 year member of Melissa Masonic Lodge as was his father and grandfather. Dan attended schools at Westminster, Anna and Southeastern State in Durant, Okla. Served in U.S. Army Air Force in Europe during World War II. Retired in 1984, built a home on the family farm where he lived until present.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Westminster Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Blue Ridge Cemetery. The family extends a heartfelt thanks to Grayson County Home Health Care and Heart to Heart Hospice for their loving care during his last days.
