Jason Richards Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 3, 2005.
Jason Skeet Richards Jason Skeet Richards, of Orem, Utah, known affectionately as "Sir Richards" among his associates, for his successful venture in the diamond and jewelry business, returned to his Heavenly Father, Thursday, June 30, 2005, following a fatal motorcycle accident. He was 29. He is survived by his adoring wife, Marci Suzanne Lee Richards, and their unborn son, Jason Boston Richards. Born to loving parents, Ronald Kim and Terry Wyeth Richards, on April 7, 1976, in Vernal, Utah, Jason grew up knowing the spirit of adventure and the value of hard work fostered by the rugged challenges of his rural environment. He learned in his youth to eagerly explore and experience life. At that time, and through the rest of his life, Jason enjoyed the outdoors and he placed particular emphasis on his love for boating, wakeboarding, rock-climbing, and camping. He also played hockey for UVSC. He moved to Orem, where he graduated from Mountain View High School in 1994. Showing his dedication to his faith, he served as a missionary for the LDS Church in the St. Louis Missouri Mission from 1995 to 1997. Jason was an entrepreneur at heart, starting his own Concrete Co and A&B Trenching, at age 22. Later, he decided to become a Gemologist and pursued a career in the diamond business, receiving with honors his Diamond Certification from the American Gem Society Academy. He enjoyed the service aspect of his industry because he valued connecting with people, providing service, and promoting family relationships. He was very artistic and often expressed himself through the creation of his jewelry. He owned and operated Sir Richards, a jewelry store (recently renamed to Di Lusso Diamonds and Fine Jewelry) on 9th East in Provo, Utah. He was an unforgettable person and loved in the community. He married Marci Suzanne Lee on January 31, 2003, in the Salt Lake Temple. Marci was the "apple of his eye". He went to great lengths to win her affection and to demonstrate his undying love. Following two happy years of marriage, Jason learned that he was to be a father. He was ecstatic with anticipation for the birth of his son. The child is due in September of this year. In addition to wife and baby, Jason leaves behind parents, Ronald and Terry Richards; siblings: Jeremiah, Ryan, Juliet, Tiffany, and Donovan Richards; grandparents: John and Betty Wyeth; father and mother-in-law, Bill and Cheryl Lee; and many other loving family and friends. Preliminary to the funeral services, a public viewing will be held on the evening of Monday, July 4, 2005, from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove, Utah. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 5, 2005, at 11 a.m., in the Orem 146th Ward, 800 South 800 West, Orem, Utah, (south building near UVSC). A second viewing will be held from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinfamilymortuary.com Good-bye, Sir Richards! We all love you and we will miss you!

I lived with Jason for a semester in 2002. I don“t know if anyone will see this but I still think about him from time to time. Have some great memories with him from rock climbing to wakeboarding in Lake Powell. Miss you bro.

I had the invaluable opportunity to get to know Jason and his entire family through a great friendship that was truly cherished. Through my love for,and association with every member of his family,I quickly learned where Jason gained his amazing strength and determination. I'm sure he was welcomed with open arms into the life after this, and I am so happy that he will have the next few months to build a heavenly relationship with little Jason before he enters this world. My heart goes out to Marci and the family and I wish I could express more eloquently my sympathy and condolences. He will be a friend truly missed.

Marci and baby Jason,

I was so sad to hear about Jason. I cannot image what you're going through. I want you to know how much we love you and Jason. We are so glad for your friendship and want you to know that we are here if you need ANYTHING. Our prayers are with you and your families. Please remember that our life here on earth is such a small dot in eternity and that you'll be with him again - and even more in love than you are here on earth. I know he loved you more deeply than could be expressed. We love you too. Take care...

We send our deepest condolences for this unfortunate tragedy with appreciation for our acquaintance. Our hearts are full of prayer and faith. Jason's time here was spent truly living, not simply existing. It's been sombering to see the out pouring of respect for him from the community. He will be missed by many.

I knew Jason in the Oak Canyon singles ward in Lindon a few years back. Jason was excited about people and had a real passion for life. He will be missed by many. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife and family.

Jason and family, you are such an amazing person and we value the time that we had with you. You helped us with our wedding ring last December and the work was so much better than we even expected. You went way above the line, as you did with everything in your life. It saddens me to think that your life was cut so short. Our prayers are with your families at this time and hope that the healing can begin sometime soon. "God be with you 'till we meet again..."

On June 25, my fiance and I had the pleasure of buying my wedding band from Jason because we were so happy with his work on our engagement rings. We met him in our singles ward five years ago. Jason is a great guy. We're going to miss him.
