Betty Mae Heike (Dearle) passed peacefully at home in Snohomish, WA, on December 27, 2018. She was born in Everett, WA, on April 14, 1936 to Albert and Inga Dearle. She grew up in Lake Stevens, WA, and graduated from Lake Stevens High School. She was always fond of growing up in rural Lake Stevens in the brick house with windows made from auto glass. She spoke fondly of her years on cheer, though her knees complained about it. She was homemaker and queen bee after marrying Larry in 1962. She had a fondness for garage sales and managed to always find great bargains. She was the keeper of holiday meals and tried to keep relatives from destruction at annual 4th of July BBQs. She is survived by her husband, Larry; daughters, Cathy Soto and Denise (Dave) Bustanoby and son, Darrell (Tonya) Heike and sister, Dorothy (Ern) Verlinde. She had six grand-children: Jennifer, Adrianna, Sixto Jr. Heather, Brian and Nicholas and was also blessed with five great grandchildren: Sebastian, Sixto Samuel, Danica, Alyssa and Ace. She was preceded in death by her son, Darren, and brother, Albert Jr. A graveside service will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, January 11, 2019 at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Snohomish. Reception following at Zion Lutheran parish hall at 1 p.m. Betty will always be remembered for her quick wit and sense of humor. Special thanks to her granddaughter, Heather for caring for her in her last days. Memorials can be made to Zion Lutheran Memorial Fund or Hospice of Snohomish County.
