Charles Robert Newman Sr. of Lake Stevens, WA passed on April 25, 2011. He was 79 years old.
Charles was born in Everett, WA to Harry and Elsie Newman in January of 1932. Charles graduated from Lake Stevens High School in 1950. After graduation, Charles entered the Sheet Metal Apprentice School and graduated after four years of education. He was a proud member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 66 for 37 years, retiring in 1991. Charles was also a member of the Moose Lodge. He had many activities including hunting, fishing and camping on his property in Twisp, WA. He also enjoyed crabbing, clam digging, gardening in his vegetable and rose garden and taking care of his yard.
Charles married the love of his life, Yvonne, in 1955 in Silver Lake, WA.
He is preceded in death by his mother and his father. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Bud, and his sister, Eva.
He is survived by his wife, Yvonne (Bonnie) Newman; his son, Donald Newman (Laura); his daughter, Patti (Newman) Allen (Steve); his daughter, Julie (Newman) Hacker (John); his son, Chuck Newman Jr. (Darla); his sisters, Nancy Foster (Roy) and June Gibson (Lowell-deceased). He has 18 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, and special friend, Ken Schauman.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the medical team that helped care for Charles including Dr. George Lau M.D., Dr. Lee M.D., Dr. James Congdon D.O. and all of the nurses on the 6th floor of Providence Colby Hospital.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2011 starting at 1 p.m. at Marysville Cemetery in Marysville, WA.
