May 8, 1929 - December 31, 2018 Richard Carlton Henshaw Sr (Dick) was born in Henderson, KY, May 8, 1929 and passed away unexpectedly at his Lake Stevens, WA home December 31, 2018. He was born to John and Stella Mae (Cartwright) Henshaw and grew up in Evansville, IN. Serving in the Korean War brought Dick to the Pacific Northwest. His adventurous spirit and insatiable curiosity kept him there. After the war he worked at Boeing which led him into a long career as a master mechanic, spending over 25 years with several Ford dealerships and another 20 years with King County Metro. He made many friends over the span of his career and was respected by his peers for his collaborative approach to problem solving and for his great sense of humor. Dick had an innate mechanical ability, whether it was for planes, trains, automobiles, motorcycles or cameras. And he could usually be found enjoying one of his many hobbies including motorcycling, photography, model trains and railroad memorabilia. Survived by his wife of almost 30 years, Phyllis Henshaw, the two of them had many memorable adventures over the last 40 years including motorcycle trips on Route 66 and Yellowstone Park, and travels to far and away countries like China and Peru. They have also spent countless hours over the last 20 years volunteering at the Future of Flight Aviation Center and the Snohomish County Visitors Center. He is also survived by siblings: Jim (Jean), Jerry (Carolyn), and Mike (Betty - deceased) and Ruth. Children from previous marriages: Douglas (Sherry); Janee' Roseth-Davis (Scott); Laurie Darrow (Don); Richard Jr (Jeff); Elisa Andring (Roger); and Andrea Bellamy (Geoff). Stepchildren from current marriage: Susie Martin (John Nyberg) and Dean Habowski (Carol). Many nephews, nieces, grandchildren, and great grandchildren as well as his precious cats, Lola and Yuban. He is preceded in death by his brother, John Jr; sons, Hal Ray (Diane) and John; and stepson, Robert Habowski. A Celebration of Dick's Life will be held Friday, February 1, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Purdy & Walters at Floral Hills.
