Winnifred L. Knipe

Winnifred L. Knipe, 96, died February 3, 2011 in Medina, NY.
She was born May 19, 1914, grew up in Ontario and taught in Canada before marrying Dr. Roger Knipe in 1943 and moving to British Columbia, Ontario and NY state. The family moved to Everett in 1957. Dr. Knipe was Director of the Snohomish Health District until he died in 1962. Win Knipe remained in Everett until 2006 when she returned east to be near family.
She was an avid community volunteer, served on Red Cross and United Way boards and in community organizations. Finger puppets she knit helped thousands of children in area hospitals. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by Mary Haour of Geneva, Switzerland and Robert Knipe of Batavia, NY; four grandchildren in England, France, NY and Washington DC; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held in Batavia, NY. Burial will be in Everett at a later date. Memorials may be made to https://donate.pih.org/page/contribute/tribute or to the charity of one's choice. Win championed the causes of children, health care, and international church missions.
