ROCK HILL - Catherine Aline Robinson Bookout, 96, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at Piedmont Medical Center after a brief illness.
Catherine was born on March 14, 1916, in Lake City, Fla., to the late Thomas J. Robinson and Pamela Clark Robinson. She was a longtime member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church, worked for over 30 years with the Rock Hill Schools and also served as the nutritionist at Bethelwoods for many years. Catherine will be remembered for her loving heart and gifts of Christian service and her great love of God and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hiram Crawford Bookout Sr. and her son, Thomas Crawford Bookout. She is survived by her sons, James David Bookout and wife, Ernice of Rock Hill and H. Crawford Bookout Jr. and wife, Gail of Columbia; five grandchildren, Rebecca Bookout Shillington and husband, Shawn of Fort Mill, Elizabeth Bookout of Charleston, Laura Bookout Matias and husband, Felipe of Belo Horizonte, Brazil, Casey Bookout Carlson and husband, Casey of Lexington and Lauren Carter Bookout of Columbia; one step-granddaughter, Tara McKinney of Columbia; great-grandchildren, William and Benjamin Shillington and Sophia and Jessica Matias; one step-great-granddaughter, Hannah Kinsey; one nephew, James Bookout Cowden and wife, Linda of Rock Hill; one great-niece, Tracy Cowden and husband, Douglas Seaman of Blacksburg, Va.; and one great-nephew, Troy Cowden of Rock Hill.
A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Bookout will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at Bethesda Presbyterian Church, with the Revs. Daniel Smoak and James Gable officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the church on Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethesda Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund, 4858 McConnells Hwy., York, SC 29745.
