Durham, North Carolina - William "Bill" T. Small, Jr., passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 18, 2021 surrounded by his loving daughter Maria. Bill, as he was affectionately known, was born January 28, 1939, in Wilmington, North Carolina, to the late William Thomas Small, Sr. and Lila Elizabeth Murphy Small. He was 82 years old.
He is survived by his daughter, Dr. Maria J. Small and was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Williamson Small and daughter, Sheila Faye Small-Glover.
Funeral services will be held on the lawn of the Church of the Abiding Savior Lutheran located at 1625 S. Alston Avenue, Durham, NC 27707, on Thursday, April 22, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. There will be no public viewing.
All COVID-19 restrictions will be in effect.
Scarborough & Hargett Celebration of Life Center, Inc. is assisting the family with arrangements.

My sincere condolences to the Family of William Smalls.
I continued to talk by phone with Bill throughout the years. My Mother and Father were good friends with his parents in Wilmington, N.C.
I knew Bill at Williston High School, in Wilmington N. C. and we became close friends at NCCU in Durham, N.C. We shared a lot of interesting times at NCCU, and I would see him and Rosa on my many trips to Homecoming Games.
He was a great , accomplished person who assisted many individuals.
