Durham

Robert Bruce Jervis, 70, passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Brian Center of Southpoint following an extended illness. He was born in Fayetteville, NC on April 23, 1947 to the late Lucille Hollingsworth Jervis and Cary Gifford Jervis.

Bob graduated from Methodist University in Fayetteville in 1969. He also attended the UNC School of Law in Chapel Hill where he graduated with a JD degree in 1972. He was engaged in private practice as an attorney from 1972 until his passing.

Bob placed all his hope in Jesus Christ as a young man, and always confessed that he was a saint saved by God's grace through faith in Jesus. He served God and others, particularly children and young people, with devotion. Durham's National Day of Prayer gathering was begun under Bob's personal vision and leadership. For 25 years he has been a beloved member of the Dayspring Baptist Fellowship family; his brothers and sisters in Christ greatly mourn his loss. Bob was also a founding elder of Dayspring in 1992.
