At the first Mensa meeting I attended, Ed took me aside and explained that a button-down collar should be buttoned. I was very grateful for that, and for the time I had with him in Chicago.

Ed was one of the best, as well as kindest, editors I had during the 30+ years I worked as a reporter in and around the Chicago area. And he was even a more outstanding person than he was a newspaper man.
