Milan Novkovic Obituary
Novkovic, Milan
July 22, 1919 - Feb 11, 2018
Milan Novkovic of Siesta Key, Florida passed away peacefully on February 11, 2018 at Sarasota Memorial Hospital.
Milan was born on July 22, 1919 in Lika, Yugoslavia. As a holocaust survivor of World War II, he met the love of his life Beba shortly after the liberation from Mauthausen concentration camp. Mila and Beba moved to Paris, France where he finished his studies at The Sorbonne, University of Paris prior to immigrating to the United States in 1956. They started their family and resided in New York City until 1964. He moved to Madison, Connecticut to raise his family and worked as a market executive for Swissair Airlines for 32 years until he retired in 1985. In retirement, Milan and Beba moved permanently to Siesta Key, Florida. Milan and Beba enjoyed traveling around the world, gardening, socializing with friends, and spending as much time as they could with their two granddaughters who they adored. Milan was known to always have a smile on his face and a joke or an interesting story to tell anybody that would listen.
He is survived by his two sons Steven Novkovic of Sarasota, Florida and Mark Novkovic (Beth Novkovic) of Hockessin, Delaware; and two granddaughters Beatrice and Caroline. He was predeceased by his wife of 69 years Beba, and his parents, Dimitar and Sofia Novkovic of Belgrade, Yugoslavia.
Services and burial were held in Lewes, Delaware.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Milan's name to St. George's Chapel, 18 Olive Ave., Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971 or Cool Spring Presbyterian Church, 28843 Log Cabin Hill Rd., Lewes, DE 19958.
