Norma McKeever Obituary
McKeever, Norma
Nov 1, 1928 - Dec 25, 2018
Norma Glasco McKeever of Bradenton died December 25th, 2018 surrounded by family. She was 90.
Norma was born on November 1, 1928 in Chickasha, Oklahoma. She and her husband, Edward, raised three sons in Connecticut before retiring to Bradenton in 1987. Norma and Edward were married for 52 years. December 24th was her 72nd wedding anniversary.
Norma and Edward both served on the Bayshore Gardens Board of Trustees and helped plan and oversee a major renovation of the Bayshore Gardens Marina. Norma was also the longtime volunteer editor of the monthly Bayshore Banner publication.
Norma loved playing the piano and painting. She was especially proud of her Indian (Cherokee) heritage as evidenced by her collection of Native-American art. One of her greatest joys was looking after the flock of wood storks, herons and cranes that thought of her as their "mother" and insisted on visiting her yard for 30 years.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward, her parents, Roy and Lillian 'Vernie' Glasco, and her son, Greg. She is survived by sons Martin (Leeann) of Colorado Springs, Co. and David (Melanie) of Holmes Beach.
There will be no services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Smithsonian's Museum of the American Indian at NMAI, P.O. Box 23473, Washington, DC 20026-3473
