Richard (Dick) G. Tesar went to be with the Lord on Jan. 4, 2019.
He was born on Aug. 3, 1927 to parents Gilbert and Edith Tesar, in Cleveland, Ohio,But spent most of his early years in Bowling Green, Ohio. He served in the Air Force at the end of WWII and graduated from Bowling Green University where he met the love of his life, Marcia, in freshman English class. They were married as Juniors on Sept. 11, 1949 and graduated together in 1951. Upon graduation they visited Florida and liked it so much they moved to Sarasota in August 1951, and never regretted it. In 1952 Dick and Marcia operated the Dixie Cream Donut shop on South Washington Blvd. Dick served as chairman of the Sarasota County school board at the time of the building of the first Riverview High School. In 1953 Dick received his real estate broker's license and was in real estate until his retirement. In 1970 Dick became a home builder and built many homes in Sarasota in the following years. Dick volunteered at the Resurrection House and served as president and treasurer. He was the last living member of the founding members of Sarasota Sertoma. He and Marcia have 4 sons, Rick (Patti), David, Gary (Terri), and Tim, 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He leaves a brother, Jerry, in Nokomis. Dick was an active amateur radio operator for over 50 years with the call sign WA4WIP. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church.
