Tim R. Erickson 61 of North Port, Fl, formerly of Bradenton died July 22, 2012. Tim was born December 23, 1950 in Muskegon, MI to Phyllis (Thomas) and Ronald Erickson. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Theresa; children: Tate (Katy) Erickson of Port Charlotte, Fl, Elizabeth (Peter) Kiesel of Falls Church, VA, Patrick Erickson Of North Port, FL; sisters: Mary Lou Nelson of Abingdon, VA, Sally (Jim) Lacher of Bradenton, FL, Molly (Drew) Wright of Abingdon, VA; brother, Thomas (Debbie) Erickson of Newark, DE; five grandchildren: Howie, Ronnie, Shelby, Madison, Emily; and many nieces and nephews. Tim served with SAC in the Air Force during the Vietnam War and was an electrician on the B-52's and KC-135's. He retired from 30 years of law enforcement beginning with the City of Bradenton, and ending with Florida Fish and Wildlife. He initiated the first Handicapped Fishing tournament in 1987 sponsored by Donzi with assistance from fellow (Florida Marine Patrol officers )Pamela Hoback and Bruce Meents as well as many professional fishing guides, countless volunteers and local agencies' assistance. The tradition since has been carried out in numerous counties throughout the state of Fl. Tim loved yard work, building and especially "fixing" things - most times with great success but at other times questionable outcomes. His sons had a private saying " There are three ways to fix something: the right way, the wrong way, and Dad's way. He was a hard act to follow. He will be greatly missed. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, July 31 at San Pedro Catholic Church with inurnment at Sarasota National Cemetery immediately following.
