Walter Scott Blomeley passed away peacefully Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Greenbriar Rehab & Nursing Home in Bradenton. He was born on February 6, 1927 to Ralph and Marion Blomeley in Brooklyn, NY. Mr. Blomeley was 91 years old.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, January 14 at Robert Toale & Sons Funeral Home at Manasota Memorial Park (1221 53rd Ave E, Bradenton, 34203). The family will receive friends beginning at 5:30 p.m prior to service time.
Mr. Blomeley was the recipient of three Purple Hearts and a highly decorated Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He faithfully served his country during WWII & the Korean War and he was a member of an elite group called the Chosin Few who were the few to survive the battle of the Chosin Reservoir Campaign. He was active in the VFW, DAV, KWVA, and the Marine Corps League.
Mr. Blomeley is survived by his children Betty Jane Boyer (Ben), Kathryn Ann Cantrall (Don), Cynthia Lee Selby (John), and Scott Harmon Blomeley (Marsha), and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Jane, in 2007; and his second wife, Barbara, in 2016.
