David Radtke Obituary

David T. Radtke, 70, of Sarasota, died June 12, 2010.
A notable Florida fine artist and fixture of the Sarasota arts scene, renowned for his grand-scale murals and starkly realistic portraiture, passed away due to complications related to pneumonia. His transition into the afterlife was peaceful and graceful. He was surrounded by family and friends.
He is survived by his son, David J. Radtke, and his daughter, Tanya E. Radtke.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Karen E. Radtke.
Public memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 19, at Rising Tide International Spiritual Center, 5102 Swift Road, Sarasota, FL 34231, with reception to follow.

What a beautiful tribute to Davidon Saturday! My mother Rita & Step-Father, Del VanOrden were good friends of David's. Whenever I ran into David, he always asked about my parents. One time when we met @ the grocery store, He gave me a copy of "INTO THE LIGHT" (Sampler of Works) He set it on my car & signed it. I was just so thrilled to own that wonderful "portfolio". David touched so many. He will be missed & is loved by so many people. My thoughts are w/ you, Tanya & David. I came to the service, but had to leave early for work before 5pm.. Tanya, I'm so sorry. I've seen your father from time to time over the years and he was such a good friend to my family. You and I haven't really spoken since we were kids but I have a lot of great memories. I hope that this loss doesn't keep you down, you're a great and talented girl and I keep an ear out for your music when ever I can. love to the family I'll try and come to the service but I work that day.

May you both find solace in knowing that your father touched so many with his generous heart, his art, and the sparkle in his eyes. He had the gift of combining color and light to create beauty and love.

Tanya and David,
I truly enjoyed knowing your dad. He was an inspiration to so many, as well as a fantastic artist in his own right. May fond memories of Dave comfort you both in your sorrow, and know that he will always be with you.

May the Light of Spirit surround with love during your time of need and always. I will always smile remembering your father as one of the first, of many, characters I met when I moved to Sarasota. He was unique.
