John Wesley Lucas, born September 29, 1940 in Hamlet, North Carolina and died on July 7, 2018 in Venice, Florida. Son of Joseph Richard Lucas and Julia Mae Martin. John graduated from Needham Broughton High School in Raleigh, NC and graduated from North Carolina State University in 1964. He served in the US Navy as an enlisted man and later as a Naval Aviator during the Vietnam War. John also served as a commercial pilot for 30 years. John married Linda Sue Hill in July, 1966. She survives. Survived by one son, Mark Andrew Lucas (Colleen) of Round Rock, TX, and two grandchildren, Megan Leigh and Cameron Wesley. John was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth Anne Rose of Raleigh, NC and is survived by two brothers, Joseph Richard Lucas, Jr. of Crofton, MD and Ashleigh Martin Lucas of Cary, NC. Private family service on Wednesday, July 11, 2018. The family will receive guests and celebrate John's life at 3:00 pm on July 11, 2018 at Lynwood Glen Clubhouse, 636 Crossfield Circle, Venice, FL.
