George W. Crist, 96, of Jackson, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at the Vista Grande Villa in Jackson. He was born February 4, 1922 in Litchfield to Roy A. and Myrtle W. (Porcupile) Crist. George married Vivian Wolfe on August 18, 1946 and she survives.
After graduating high school, George went on to serve his country in the United States Navy during WWII. He had been employed at the United States Postal Service and served as Post Master in Litchfield for many years. George was a member of the American Legion, a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge and was a former member and chief of the Litchfield Fire Department.
In addition to his wife, Vivian, George is survived by his three sons, Thomas (Becky) Crist of Jackson, David (Kathlene) Crist of Austin, Texas and Gary (Betsy) Crist of Homer; sister, Isabell Russell of North Fort Myers, FL; grandchildren, Andy (Kelly) Crist, Joe Crist, Jenifer (Kirk) Kuykendall, Kevin (Erin) Crist, Colleen (James) Hart, Kaitlin (David) Rudolph and Marshall (Leloni) Pardue; nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
George was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Marion Todd, Virginia Buskirk and Shirley Crist and brother, Roy J. Crist.
A memorial service for George W. Crist will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel in Litchfield. Interment will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday at 1 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Litchfield Fireman's Association or the Alzheimer's Association.

I only knew George for a short time but found him to be a wonderful, kind, sensitive, warm and friendly man. I am so sorry for your loss. There's a great place for him in heaven. My condolences and prayers go out to the family. Valerie Packer

I volunteered at Vista with my Kit Young students every Tuesday and Friday and spent time with George doing activities, he was a sweetheart and I enjoyed spending time with him..... Rest In Peace George.... I will miss you.... Lisa Glandorf
