Carolyn Wyatt Obituary

Carolyn Jensen Wyatt
09/06/1934 - 11/15/2015
Our beloved mother and grandmother, Carolyn Jensen Wyatt, passed away peacefully at home in her sleep Nov. 15, 2015, at the age of 81. She was born Sept. 6, 1934, on a farm in Mink Creek, Idaho, to Harry and Sarah Rosetta Nelson Jensen. She graduated from Preston High School and attended Utah State University, where she worked in the library and met the love of her life, Clair L. Wyatt. They were married for time and eternity in the Logan LDS Temple on March 18, 1955, and enjoyed 53 happy years together.
Clair and Carolyn spent several years in the Air Force in Los Angeles, Calif., and Anchorage, Alaska, before returning to Cache Valley and building a home in Providence, where Carolyn worked as a homemaker for the rest of her life. She was a supportive wife who kept the home fires burning during Clair's long business trips. She traveled with him to several European countries, every one of the United States except Maine, and served a mission with him in Perth, Australia. She kindly cared for him through six years of Alzheimer's disease until his death in 2008.
Carolyn was a devoted mother who read aloud, baked cookies, supported school activities, said "no" when necessary and "yes" when possible, and insisted that any of her children who wanted a Christmas present profess belief in Santa Claus (after which she would recite the threatening poem about Henry Lucius Stout). She never went to bed until the last child was home. Her grandchildren loved sleeping over, eating her special toast, and playing board games with her.
Carolyn volunteered in the elementary school, taught for the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, aided terminally ill patients and families through Hospice, and loved all the children of the neighborhood. In The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she taught every age group, served as the president of every auxiliary, led Cub Scouts, visited women every month of her adult life, worked in the temple, and most recently taught Gospel Doctrine. She also loved gardening, reading, crocheting and watching sports on TV.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, a granddaughter, her parents, and all seven of her siblings. She is survived by her five children, Stewart (Denise), an electrical engineer in Boise, Idaho; Gary (Ranae), an associate provost in Emporia, Kansas; Scott (Kathleen), a university president in Cedar City, Utah; Nancy Jensen (Gary), a piano teacher in Logan, Utah; and Gordon (Tawn), an airline pilot in La Jolla, California; 20 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren, with one more due today.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Nyman Funeral Home. A viewing will be held at the Providence 3rd Ward meeting house, 355 E. Canyon Road, Providence, Utah, on Friday, Nov. 20, from 6 to 8 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 21, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The funeral will follow at noon; burial will be in the Providence City Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the Providence 3rd Ward, the emergency responders, and Nyman Funeral Home for their kind service. Condolences and memories can be shared with the family online at www.NymanFH.com.

Stewart, Gary, Scott, Nancy, Gordon and families- sorry I was unable to attend services and visit with you all, my friends. Would have loved to see you all again, and catch up on life. What a great time for your parents, together again. Very fond memories of you and your folks, so many good times in the ward, scouts, camping, dirt biking etc. etc. - Take joy in their lives past and great lives now and forever.

We loved dear Carolyn, who always had a kind word and a laugh for everyone. She was the best neighbor, treating our children as one of her own. Carolyn was full of wisdom, and always had something interesting to share. She especially shared it with her children and grandchildren, who have all been very successful in their paths of life.
We know she is happy to be back with dear Clair, and we send our prayers for peace and comfort to all the family members.

There are no words to express my love for Aunt Carolyn. She has been like a second mother to me since mine, her older sister, died. She was one of the most Christlike people I have ever known. I will miss her, but am grateful that she can be with Uncle Clair and her loved ones. I can imagine him coming into the house Sunday night saying, "Carolyn, it's been long enough. I have missed you" and her being overjoyed to go with him to meet the Lord.
