Jan Miller Obituary

Jan Lee Whipple Miller
June 27, 1962 - June 3, 2018
Jan Lee Whipple Miller was born June 27, 1962, to Pauline and Frank Whipple in Carbon County, Utah. She left her physical body June 3, 2018, at the young age of 55. Jan is survived by her loving husband and best friend Troy Miller, her beloved children Brooke (Troy) Holland, Derek (Ashley) Miller, and Benjamin (Madison) Miller, as well as her nephew-turned-son, Dallas (Natalie) Desantis, and her foster son Robert (Genevieve) Braecklein. She leaves a legacy of 11 grandchildren, Ryder, Linkin, Bentley, Blakely, Xander, Olive, Ben, Aubri, Natasha, Kyle and Elizabeth. She also sweetly loved her grand-doggers Cocoa, Ruby, Hadez, Mazy, Oakley, Emma and Wall-E.
Above anything else Jan valued her family. Being a mother was her greatest pride and joy. She was not only a mother to her children but also a mother to anyone in need and was known by many as Mama Jan. Her legacy is that of serving others. Her love extended far past her close family and friends and into her community and beyond. There are so many people in her life that that she helped immensely, without ever asking for anything in return. She was a philanthropist, an activist, a teacher, an entrepreneur, an optimist, and she was able to leave an impression and impact on those she only knew briefly.
Jan had a powerful and loving character beyond words. She practiced and taught integrity, respect, accountability. She was a woman of her word. Jan took pride and joy in her work and had a passion for learning and growing herself and others. She had a powerful intuition that she always trusted. Because of this she was able to handle the hardest of situations with grace and compassion. She was a spiritual person and a student of many values and beliefs, faiths and ways of life. Service and kindness was her practice. Jan had a true gift of helping others to recognize their own divinity within, and she honored every person she met with unconditional love. She had no enemies. The example she set inspired those around her to become better, kinder, more-selfless people. Not only did she inspire others to follow their dreams, but she did everything she could to help them make it happen. Jan made the impossible possible.
Jan was the strongest and most genuine woman we know. She was known for her humility and giving spirit and never wanted anything in return, not even letting others pick up the check, something she learned from her father.
Jan was a beacon of light for those around her, and we believe this gift will continue to shine bright. Love was her legacy, and she will be greatly missed.

I first met Jan at a US trade show and I'm so glad I did. It was always a pleasure and fun to get together with Jan and her team. Jan's integrity and passion - about both her business and her family - were always evident. She was very proud of her family and talked about them often.

It's difficult to accept this loss. I am going to miss her. My sincere condolences to Jan's family and her Stander colleagues.

It is a rare occurrence when you find someone in your professional life that you are honored to consider a friend. For me, Jan was certainly one of those individuals. From almost the moment we met, her kind spirit and passion for making the world a better place inspired and impressed me. Although the drudgery of attending MedTrades and ECRM events was a constant in the business, a shining light was knowing I would have a chance to discuss business, life and the world with Jan and Brandon. My sympathies go out to Troy, her family, and her extended Stander family. The world has lost a true angel on earth.

Unfortunately I didn't know Jan on a personal level but had the greatest privledge to know her on a professional level. Jan was the leader of a company that the largest home health care company in Canada considered a partner. This partnership was cultivated as a result of her integrity, commitment, honesty and leadership. She was a pleasure to work with, negotiate with and just to be with. Jan leaves behind one of the best teams of business professionals I have ever come across. They also carry the skills of integrity, commitment, honesty and leadership that Jan demonstrated and left with them. She has left us with the opportunity to see her in her team for many years to come. We will miss you Jan.
