Alice Howe Obituary

Alice LuDean Howe
December 20, 1932 - September 13, 2018
Alice LuDean Howe, devoted wife, super-mom of five, proud grandmother of 23, and legendary great-grandmother to 22, passed away peacefully Sept. 13, 2018, in Logan, Utah. Mom was born Dec. 20, 1932, in Logan, Utah, the first child to Ruby Alice (Miller) Seeholzer and Ruben J. Seeholzer. Her siblings are Jerald (Thelma) Seeholzer, who live in Wellsville, and Janice (Dickson) Williams of Logan.
Mom was proud to be a Logan High Grizzly and graduated with the class of 1951. After a short year as a USU Aggie she chased her dream and moved to the shores of Southern California where she would spend the next 40 years raising her family. But it all started when she met her lifelong partner and eternal companion, Eugene Boynton Howe, of Long Beach, CA. They were sealed in the Logan LDS Temple in 1958 and resided in Garden Grove, CA. Dad passed away in November of 2016, and Mom missed him every day since.
Mom and Dad are survived by their five children: Susan (Jerry) Dees, now of San Ramon, CA, Steven (Jennifer) Howe, of Chino Hills, CA, Karen Lockhart of Huntington Beach, CA, Bruce (Christine) Howe of North Logan, UT, and Brian (Kandi) Howe of Smithfield, UT.
As previously noted, Mom was a super-mom. If we played a sport, she was the team mom, attended every game, ran the snack stand and was the league president. She made the backpacks by hand for all the Scout backpack trips and even climbed Mt. Whitney herself. She turned our home into a seamstress shop and made costumes for dance festivals. She was an expert candy maker, and divinity was her specialty. If there was a fundraiser, she led the charge and turned her home into an assembly factory for whatever the cause. More often than not, the vehicle for her charity was through The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, to which she was fiercely loyal. She loved to express her testimony through song and by playing the piano and organ. She also felt the eternal prompting to serve with Dad in the Logan LDS Temple baptistery, where she demonstrated her strong belief in the plan of salvation, and giving tours of the Logan Tabernacle, where she occasionally played its organ for guests. However, what was possibly Mom's greatest attribute was that her home was open to all. From a family that Dad brought home from the Korean War, to Navajo exchange students, to family friends and grandchildren. There were few months over a 60-year span that her home wasn't open to someone. Mom exemplified the pure love of Christ, and her selfless example and lifetime of service to others will forever be remembered by all her posterity and friends. She was a true angel.
We would like to express a very heartfelt thank you to our aunt, Janice Williams, for the countless hours of service and support she has provided to both our mom and dad.

LuDean was always part of our social group growing up and one of it's leaders. She was instrumental in our class reunions and our keeping in touch with those of us from our youth that were still around. May she rest in peace.
