Eloise Meyer Obituary

Eloise Karren Meyer passed away March 1, 2012, surrounded by her loving family at the Promise Hospital in Salt Lake City.
She was born May 3, 1934, in Lewiston, Utah, the only daughter of Hyrum and Delecta Karren and welcomed and adored by three brothers. She married her devoted sweetheart, Lloyd Meyer, on Nov. 23, 1954, in the Logan LDS Temple and enjoyed 57 years together. Mom and Dad were blessed with five daughters and three sons: Christine (Steve) Curtis of Providence, Bonnie (Randy) Hunt of Farmington, Mike (Lisa) Meyer of Fruit Heights, Sue (Fred) Beck of Providence, Pam (Brad) Rich of St. George, Nancy (Dave) Griffin of Newton, Aaron (JoAnna) Meyer of Draper, and Jeff (Traci) Meyer of Farmington. Mom's greatest love was her family. She was also a loving grandmother to 42 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
She raised her family in Smithfield where they lived for 57 years, and also spent time in Montana and California supporting her husband in the Meyer Honey Company. Mom had a strong testimony of the gospel and a love of the Savior. She loved serving in all areas of the church, especially with the youth. She and Dad served two missions: Des Moines, Iowa, and in Munich, Germany-Austria. She served as a temple officiator for three years and as a stake missionary. Mom also enjoyed the great relationships she made while working as a secretary in the LDS Seminary Area office for 13 years.
Mom had a great love for music and was a gifted accompanist and also taught many piano students in her home. She was a friend to everyone she met and especially enjoyed lunch dates with many dear friends. Her happiest times were when the family was gathered around her. She loved reunions and vacations; Hawaii, Lake Powell and Bear Lake were some of her favorites.
She is survived by her immediate family; two brothers, Sid Karren (Renee) of Lewiston and Nate Karren (Olivia) of Caldwell, Idaho; and sister-in-law, Carma Karren of Bountiful. She is also survived by many special brothers and sisters-in-law: John and Verna Anderson, Afton Meyer, Richard and Arlene Keysor, Mildred Earl, and Floyd and Rae Meyer. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Boyd Karren; a granddaughter; and a great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday, March 7, in Smithfield, Utah, at the Smithfield 10th Ward, 451 S. 250 East. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Nelson Funeral Home in Smithfield, and from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, prior to the service. The family wishes to thank the staff at the UofU medical center and the Promise Hospital for their kindness and loving care they provided for our mom and family.
Her love will forever be remembered.
""Love You, Mom!""
