Harvey Davelaar

Harvey F. Davelaar passed away on Saturday morning, June 29, 2019 and entered his Heavenly Home. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Loraine and two infant babies Timothy and Janice. Survivors are his children, Tom Davelaar (Anne Bakker), Joan Moore (Clyde); grandchildren, Joe Davelaar (Allison), Kate Guthrie (Tom), Sarah Davelaar, David Meyer. Harvey served his country in the US Navy as an Aviation Metalsmith in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was a self-employed commercial and residential painting contractor. Harvey served his Lord in many ways as a member of Calvary Reformed Church. In retirement he joined Kiwanis Golden K and volunteered for over 40 years as a member at West Michigan Gleaners and as a bell ringer for the Salvation Army. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 3, 11:00 am at the Zaagman Memorial Chapel (2800 Burton St. SE) with Rev. Kate Guthrie officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral chapel on Tuesday, July 2, from 6 to 8 pm as well as Wednesday, July 3, from 10 to 11 am prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Resident Assistance Fund at Holland Home.
