Wilbur Brotherton Obituary
Farmington Hills - Age 98, former State of Michigan Representative, passed away Friday, January 15, 2021. He was born July 6, 1922, in Chicago. While attending Northwestern University, he was drafted into the Army Air Corp and served his country during WW II as a navigator. Sandy married Carolyn Yvonne O'Connell in 1948 and she preceded him in death in 1989. In 1992 Sandy married Marie Mutschall and she preceded him in death in 2011. Sandy's political career included serving as Mayor Pro Tem and Mayor of Farmington, Oakland County Commissioner and finally, serving the 64th District as State Representative from 1975-1988. He was an active member of Our Lady of Sorrows in Farmington, a member of Groves-Walker American Legion Post #346 in Farmington and the Farmington VFW. Surviving are his son, William (Carolyn) Brotherton and daughter, Karen Brotherton; grandchildren Allison and Benjamin; and sisters, Diana Castri, June Wilde and Dorothy Strand. Preceded in death by his sister Lois. Due to the current health restrictions, private funeral services will be held with a public memorial service taking place on July 6th, which will be Sandy's 99th birthday. Please check the funeral home website for updated information. Interment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Farmington. Memorial tributes are suggested to Groves-Walker American Legion Post #346.
