Connely Duplantis Obituary
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time Friday at Annunziata Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with burial in Holy Family Catholic Church Cemetery in Dulac.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Yvonne Pertuit Duplantis; parents, Irvin and Drusella Eschete Duplantis; brother, Eric Duplantis and wife, Paula; sisters, Vera Duplantis Chaisson and husband, Vincent, Debra Duplantis Winstead and husband, Wayne, and Maureen Duplantis Lirette and husband, Larry; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Gerard Jude Duplantis; and grandparents, Clarence and Velina Duplantis, and Henry and Hazel Eschete.
He was a parishioner of Annunziata Catholic Church in Houma, St. Joseph Catholic Church in Woodville, Miss., and Holy Family Mission Church in Gloster, Miss.
He served in the U.S. Navy for four years as a medic and retired as a respiratory therapist from Chabert Medical Center. He was an ordained Deacon of the Roman Catholic Church who was involved in Prison Ministry. He was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid gardener who loved camping, fishing and cooking. He also enjoyed technology and computers. Connely was a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Catholic Charities Prison Ministry.

Yvonne,
We just learned today about the tragic events in your loss of Connely. We are deeply sorry to hear about his passing. Life has an end as a candle light would fade, but in the heart, memories you both shared will forever be remembered. Anyone can be forgotten but not Connely who chose a life of selflessness and generosity.
Connely is physically gone but never the life he lived. Have faith and be strong. We pray the love of God enfolds you during your journey through grief. We send you thoughts of comfort.

Please know to me you were more than a supervisor and mentor, you were a friend. But more than a friend, you took time to teach me respiratory therapy and shared my ups and downs. I don't know who was more excited when I graduated you or me. You became part of my dreams that helped me seceed. I will always love you for that. And I will miss you always

Dear Yvonne and Family,
I send sincere condolences on the untimely loss of your dear spouse Connely. I remember him reaching out to the youth at the Ashland Juvenile Center when I was working there as a social worker. He had a way of coming across that impacted the youths in a special way. My heart is broken, but I know his spirit lives on in all those he touched. To all of the Duplantis Family: Due to health issues, Cliff & I are unable to attend the services today, but our hearts are filled with sympathy for all of you for this tragic loss of Connely. Our prayer is for God to bring justice soon - and to give all of you strength and comfort. Alice and I are so sorry to hear of your husband Connely's passing. Like Connely, I was a Navy Corpsman, I had no problem getting him on ths staff and the school because of his knowlege and experience. He was a kind and giving person to all who worked with him. His patients at the hospital had the greatest of care. We will miss him.

Yvonne and family.....I had the pleasure of working with Connely at Chabert for many years. He was a very giving person, always willing to help, never a complainer, and always laughter in his heart.
