Mary E. Doucet, Lafourche Parish Registrar of Voters, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2017. She started her career with the Registrar of Voters office in 1973. Due to her outstanding work ethic, she was promoted to Chief Deputy and served as such for over 25 years. When the former Registrar of Voters, Mr. Sterling C. Diaz retired, Ms. Doucet was appointed as registrar by the Lafourche Parish Council on Aug. 25, 2010. She will be remembered for her unrelenting dedication to the office of the Registrar of Voters and to the voters of Lafourche. She will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Galliano, La. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday with burial to follow in Cheramie Cemetery.
She is survived by her mother, Mae D. Doucet.
She was preceded in death by her father, Livingston Doucet; and brother, Carl Doucet.
