He was survived by his wife of 57 years, Ferdie Clement Ledet; sisters, Marie Prejeant and Carolyn Hayward; children, Jimmy Ledet and Louise, Tessie Lupo and Kregg, and Keith Ledet and Debbie; seven grandchildren, Matthew Ledet and Ashlee; Eric, Daniel, Emily, Hannah, Rebecca and Krista Lupo, four step-grandchildren, Mileina Battaglia and Chuck, Heather Ledee and Ezra, Autumn Douglas, and Randy and Amber Mangiaracina; and great-grandchildren, Adam and Josephine Ledet; and step-great-grandchildren, Drake, Devin and Tevin Battaglia, Gabrielle and Isaiah Ledee, Riley and Jacob Douglas, Giovanni, Jeremiah and Joshua Mangiaracina and Faith Clavier.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elvin and Lily Ledet; brothers, E.P. Ledet Jr. and Henry Cooper; and sisters, Ruby Knobloch and Priscilla Ledet.
He was a proud veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army. As a faithful St. Joseph parishioner, he sang in the choir for 55 years. He worked in the Thibodaux banking industry until his retirement. His real passion in life was sharing his artistic talent in many mediums as well as teaching. His artwork can be found throughout south Louisiana. He served as band booster president and devoutly followed the music program at E.D. White Catholic High School until his death. He was honored by many organizations for his service to the community.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the E.D. White Catholic High drum line would be appreciated.

I planned to go this morning to visit Billy, but decided to check first ... and found out that he died and was buried yesterday. I know he has already been embraced by the God he loved so much. May his paintings be a powerful reminder of the tremendous person he was and a challenge to each of us to live better lives. May he rest in peace ... and may you be consoled.
