Kenneth Matherne Obituary
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29 and from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30 at Bayou Blue United Methodist Church. Religious Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30 at Bayou Blue United Methodist Church, with Burial in Rogers - Matherne Cemetery, Houma.
He is survived by his companion, Anita "Peggy" Aguilar; daughters, Pamela Matherne Guidry and husband, Darrin, Nicole Dufrene Streva and husband, Jeffrey, Connie Jennings Marcel and husband, Robbie; sons, Kenneth "Kenny" Matherne Jr., Keith "Aaron" Matherne, Shane Paul Matherne and wife, Elene; brother, Don Peter Matherne and wife, Consuelo "Connie";
Sister, Sue Ellen Matherne Olin and husband, Loyd; 11 grandchildren, Brooke Spiers, Darrin "DJ" Guidry Jr., Jordan Paul Streva, Chad Braud, Charlie Anderson, Lindsay Cay Jennings, Kenneth Matherne III, Jeramy Matherne, Stacy Matherne, Anthony Robertson, Shawn Matherne; and16 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Juanice "Niece" Iona Matherne; parents, Irvin Peter Matherne and Della Rhodes Matherne; son, Clint Jennings; grandson, Michael Braud.
He was a former Lafourche Parish Councilman serving numerous terms. He was a member of the Bayou Blue United Methodist Church. He served in the National Guard. He was the Owner/Operator of MATCO in Thibodaux. He was known as "Captain Matt" and was a Charter Boat Captain for many years until his retirement. He loved to fish, hunt, travel the rodeo circuit and fly his cessna.
