E.c. McSwain

E.C. McSwain, 87, passed peacefully on June 24, 2013 in Woodville Texas. He was born to Leo and Ada Anthony McSwain on June 26th, 1925 in Shelby County. Preceding him in death; loving parents , beloved wife Gwinnon and son Kerry, two brothers and six sisters.
A veteran of WWII, he proudly served in the Marine Corp. He married Miss Gwinnon Hopkins of Center, Texas on Nov 8, 1945. Their marriage would be a legacy of faith, love and loyalty for 51 years. After the war, he moved his family to Houston and eventually would be owner & operator of Cashmere Plumbing for more than 25 years. A father to four, he worked hard for his family. As a youth, he was an excellent baseball player, and encouraged his sons to foster skill and self discipline through sports. To his daughters, he was "daddy", and a perfect example of what a husband and father should be. An avid hunter, he and his family enjoyed the camp house in Colmesneil for many family gatherings. He and his beloved wife were very active in their church, and he served as elder for Deerbrook Church of Christ. After losing his Gwin, he became a family poet, expressing his love, humor and wisdom with his pen. His final years he returned to East Texas to be by his daughter Kathy. An exceptional man, he was a true Patriarch. He will be honored and missed. He is survived by son Keith McSwain & wife Shyrel, daughters Kathy Jones and husband Teral, Kay Lynn Surface & husband Mike, daughter in law Elaine McSwain. He has 11 grandchildren & 20 greatgrandchildren. Visitation will be 6-8PM on Friday, June 28th at Watson & Sons Chapel,. Services will be Saturday, @10:30AM. Burial will follow at Mt. Hermann Cemetery in Center.
