Gurdev BOPARAI Obituary
May 5, 1950 - March 7, 2014
Gurdev S. Boparai was born at his maternal granparents' village of Nurpur and grew up in his ancestral village Boparai Kalan. He took his MBBS degree at the Govt. Medical College, Patiala in the Punjab. He immigrated to Canada in 1976 and started family practice in Vancouver in 1980. Pre- deceased by his parents and daughter Anita, he is survived by his loving wife Rani, sons Dennis (Sonia) and Jesse, grandchildren Brayden and Brooklyn, sister Gurdev (late Bhajan) and her family. Funeral services will be held on March 15, 2014 at 10 AM at Riverside Funeral Home & Crematorium on 7410 Hopcott Road in Delta, BC and final prayers services will follow at 2 pm at the Akali Singh Sikh Temple on 1890 Skeena Street in Vancouver, BC. No flowers please; and donations may be sent to the charities of choice.

My deepest condolences on the loss of a good man and someone who has done a lot through his service as a physician to the community. My first memories of going to the doctor are at the main street clinic of Dr Boparai. Hearfelt sadness to hear that this warm-hearted and caring individual has left us so soon. Peace to the family and friends who's lives he was a part of and may he rest in peace.

Dennis, I just learned of your father's passing today. I saw him weekly at the gym and have done so for years and years. He couldn't be more proud of you...as I know you are of him. May his soul find eternal peace and may your heart mend over time. Your dad was a good man. I will miss him.

To the entire Boparai family, please accept my sincerest condolences to you. Dr. Boparai was my family's GP for years, I was quite young when I went to see him. I bumped into him last year randomly and to my surprise..he remembered me and that too by my first name! I am so saddened to hear about this loss, he was such a great man.

Dear Rani, Dennis & Sonia, Jesse, Brayden & Brooklyn, Gurdev Kaur, Gian Kaur and families:
We were deeply saddened by the news of Gurdev passing. We are so very sorry for your huge loss. We send our heartfelt condolences to all of his family members, friends and loved ones.
Gurdev, was such a fantastic person. We can hear his voice, see the twinkle in his eyes and see his bigger than life smile. He was always so very happy to see us. We are so glad that we got a great visit in with him on our last trip to Vancouver. He will live on in our memories forever. We are reminded of a quote by Helen Keller, “What we have once enjoyed, we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes part of us."
We hope you will, in time, find peace with Gurdev's cherished moments.
