PWJ WOOD, born October 1, 1925 in London England suddenly passed away on January 2, 2008. His long list of achievements began as he served in WW2, as Sub Lieutenant in the British Royal Navy: Fleet Air division. He earned an Honors Bachelor Degree in 1949 in Geology, Math and Chemistry from Oxford University and later an MA at Harvard. He immigrated to Canada in 1950 and joined Imperial Oil Limited as a well site geologist. Later he worked for Esso Exploration NY, Esso Libya, Humble Oil Company, Esso Eastern, Exxon Company USA, Cities Service, and Nomeco as an executive exploring for oil and gas fields worldwide, frequently managing teams of geologists and geophysicists applying new technologies. He was currently CEO of the Petroleum Club of Houston Foundation and an Ignite Company Director. He loved the USA and became a citizen in 1978. He was a member of the Petroleum Club and Lakeside Country Club. He was an excellent orator, loved golf, dancing and playing bridge. He is survived by his wife Daisy Mallia Wood, his son Jeremy and wife, Marla Wood, daughters Penelope and husband Bob Stevens, Felicity Farmer and Melanie Wood D'Luzansky, granddaughter Taylor and husband Shawn Glover, grandson Logan Wood and fiancé Sara, granddaughters Emily and Sarah D'Luzansky, stepson Alex Hobbs and wife Linda, stepson Allen Hobbs and wife Teri, step-grandchildren, Wesley Hobbs and wife Christen, Alexandra, Laura, Sophie and Daisy Hobbs. A Memorial service will take place at 11:00 AM, Monday January 7, 2008 at "Our Lady of Walsingham Church, 7809 Shadyvilla Lane, Houston, TX 77055. For those desiring, the family requests in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to the Kipp Academy Fund in his honor. A reception will immediately follow the service.
