I just found out about the passing of Dr. Tharp today when I called to book the annual vet appointment for our cat. For 22 years Dr. Tharp has taken care of our beloved pets. He was warm, personable, caring and an extremely skilled vet. He saved two of our cats during the course of our knowing him and he always made us feel that he cared. The last time I saw him was about two months ago after he splinted our cat Sunny's leg after he was hit by a car. He was vibrant and engaging as always and knew just what to do. We feel his loss greatly and know without a doubt that he made the world a better place.

Dr. Tharp was a delightful man. He always made me laugh (even though bringing a cat to the vet is not usually a laughing matter). He left us too soon and I will miss him very much.

I just learned of Dr. Tharp's passing and can never express my gratitude and love for this wonderful servant of God. My pets and family came to love him for the almost 40 years he treated all of us. Whenever we brought a pet to see him he always made us feel his genuine concern for our human as well as our pet family. He took such incredible care of 6 cats and 4 dogs through years of joy and sorrow. He sincerely felt and shared your emotions. Even my Aggie son when he adopted his dog would bring him from Midland to see Dr. Tharp. There could never be a more compassionate and truly good person as Dr. Tharp. He shared stories about his family and his love for them always shone through. I know he is in Heaven and prayers are lifted for his family.

I am so saddened by this news. Ben and I had joked for years that I had known him since he was a "baby vet". He was my friend and the only person I wanted to touch my animals. I cannot imagine the magnitude of this loss on his family.

I can only say it was a privlege to have known him through the years.

God speed my friend.

I met Ben Tharp through Voss Road Animal Clinic. He was one of most sincere, nicest, caring people I have known. My life was surely bettered by him. Each time our dog needed a trip to the vet, I left with some pearl of wisdom or a little more joy because of Ben Tharp.

May his memory always be a blessing. He will be dearly missed. Sending my thoughts and prayers to the Tharp family.

We are stilling trying to accept Dr Tharp's passing. We were fortunate enough to know him for more than 20 years while raising four Labs and saying good bye to two of them. During that time we shared stories of our families as they grew up, married and gave us the joy of grand children. He was a wonderful vet who knew just what to do in every situation. We will miss him.

He was a wonderful colleague. A special friend, a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ and now is face to face with his Savior.

My husband, Bill and I loved Dr. Tharp with all our hearts and considered him and his wonderful staff family. Now Ben and Bill are together in Heaven along with our two dachshunds Carmen and Camille. Dr. Tharp treated our girls as he would his own until the day they went to Heaven when they were 12 years old. Such devotion, love, and humor I have never seen in any other human being. I will miss you til we meet again.

Dr. Ben Tharp, a really kind, genuinely caring and funny man! Really liked who he was... an Elder of our church, a godly man who had a huge heart and wasn't afraid to show his feelings when talking about the Lord. He always seemed to have a smile on his face and he would share the funniest, corniest jokes and would leave everyone laughing! Our love and prayers go out to his lovely wife, Mary Ellen, his children, and his precious grandchildren. This must be such a difficult time for them, may they be comforted in their knowledge of Ben being in the arms of his Lord and Savior.

Still stunned to hear of Dr. Tharp's passing. We spent many hours at his clinic with all of our rescue and personal pets. He saved a pit bull I found taking care of all of her vetting, boarded and fed her, for a long time until someone adopted Gracie. I have personal pets he buried on his farm. My heart hurts for his family and colleague's loss. May the memories of his life and his spiritual light continue to shine.

I loved and love Ben. He was a bright light in a sometimes dreary world. I rarely have encountered such a fine human being. I will try to adopt some of his compassion and humor the rest of my life.

What an incredible man and Veterinarian. He truly cared about his patients and their "pet parents". Meeting me after office hours on Saturday to supply me with food when my cat wasn't eating. And when another cat had to be put down at age 19, he took her body to bury on his own property. That is the loving and generous spirit of this man.

God Bless his family and friends at this time. I can't imagine how you are suffering. But please know that Ben is happy, healthy and strong now, living with all those animals that went before! And I have a feeling, being smiled on by the face of God, living on in His peace, love and light.

Mr. Tharp was amazing! So kind and loving to all he taught and all that were near him. We will always remember him as the Dr. that saved our guinea pig though. It had a giant tumor on it's tushy and we called him and he squeezed us in and removed the tumor. Ali was pretty young, but everytime she would see him at church she would say, "that's the vet that fixed my guinea pigs butt!" He didn't charge us a dime for that visit either, because he knew we were struggling at the time. He always had a kind smile and he and his family were always quick to open their homes for small groups and events. New year's Eve at their place was the best. Praying for the Tharps and thankful for God's comfort and hope.
